About this part

The Pedrollo PKM60 takes a mechanical seal for a 12 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. This aftermarket seal suits the PKM60 peripheral pump and is the same seal used in the Pedrollo PKM65, PKM70 and PKM90. Measure the shaft where your old seal sits before fitting, and compare the old seal with the photos.

Pedrollo PKM60 seal specification

A two-part mechanical seal for a 12 mm shaft. One face is carbon and the other ceramic. Like any mechanical seal of this type, one half is spring-loaded and turns with the shaft behind the impeller, while the other is a stationary seat fixed in the pump body. The two polished faces run against each other on a thin film of water, which is what keeps the pump dry on the motor side.

The same seal is also sold on its own as our 12 mm jet pump seal.

Which other pumps use the PKM60 seal

Within the Pedrollo range, this seal is shared with the Pedrollo PKM65 and Pedrollo PKM90, as well as the PKM70, JCR1A, JCR1B, JSW1A and JSW1C. It also suits several other brands, including the Onga Jetinox, JS120 and JS130, DAB Nova 41, Pentax CM6, PM and PE, Ebara JES and JESX, Calpeda NGX and Saer CMP.

Signs the PKM60 seal has failed

A worn seal often starts as a slow weep and gets worse, although running the pump dry can damage it quickly.

  • Water dripping from the gap between the pump body and the motor.
  • A damp patch, mineral crust or rust streak under the motor end.
  • On a pressure-controlled system, the pump cutting in when no tap is open.
  • A gritty or squealing noise from the seal area after the pump has run dry.

Fitting notes for the PKM60 seal

Isolate the power before you start. Keep both seal faces clean and do not touch them with bare fingers. Use a little water or soapy water to ease the rubber parts into place, not grease or oil. Never run the pump dry once the new seal is in; prime it fully first. If the shaft is scored where the old seal sat, the new one may not seal well. If the motor has also been slow to start, the Pedrollo PKM60 service kit pairs this seal with the run capacitor, and parts for other models are under Pedrollo service kits.

Before you order

Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.

What shaft size is the Pedrollo PKM60 seal?
