The Pedrollo PKM65 peripheral pump takes a mechanical seal for a 12 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. This aftermarket CapacitorsNZ seal is made to suit the PKM65, and the same seal also fits the Pedrollo PKM60 and PKM90. Measure the shaft where your old seal sits, or compare the old seal with the photos, before fitting.
Signs the Pedrollo PKM65 seal has failed
Change the seal as soon as you see a leak. Water tracking along the shaft can reach the motor’s front bearing, which turns a simple seal job into a motor repair.
- Water dripping or spraying from the gap between the pump body and the motor.
- A wet patch, white scale or rust streaks under the motor end of the pump.
- On a pump with a pressure switch or controller, the pump cutting in and out with every tap shut, because pressure is escaping past the seal.
- A squealing noise from the pump end after it has run dry, which can mean the seal faces have overheated.
Which pumps use the same seal
This 12 mm carbon / ceramic seal is shared by the Pedrollo PKM60 and the Pedrollo PKM90. It also suits the Pedrollo PKM70, JCR1A, JCR1B, JSW1A and JSW1C.
Other brands on the same seal: Onga JS120, JS130, Jetinox, TF30 and SMH Series; DAB Nova 41 and KP30/16-6; Pentax CM6, PE and PM; Ebara JES and JESX; Calpeda NGX; Davies PL/OD/PM Series; and Saer CMP, KF0, KF1, KF6, M50 and Mini Matic. The same part is sold on its own as our 12 mm jet pump seal.
Fitting notes for the PKM65 seal
A mechanical seal comes in two halves: a spring-loaded rotating face that rides on the shaft behind the impeller, and a stationary seat that sits in a bore in the pump housing. Always fit both halves together. A new face running on a worn seat won’t hold for long.
Not sure your old seal matches? Send a photo of it and the pump label through our contact page before fitting. Seals and capacitors for other Pedrollo pumps are on our Pedrollo service kits page.
- Isolate the power and drain the pump before opening it.
- Clean the seat bore and the shaft so the new rubber parts sit square.
- Keep the polished faces clean and free of grease or oil; wet the rubbers with a little water or soapy water so they slide on.
- Fill and prime the pump before starting it. Running dry, even briefly, can overheat and crack new seal faces.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
