This listing is a 14 µF (14 uF / 14 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals, to suit the Pedrollo PKM65 single-phase peripheral pump. It is an aftermarket CapacitorsNZ part, not made by Pedrollo. Before ordering, read the µF figure printed on your old capacitor: if it shows anything other than 14 µF, order that value instead, because the old capacitor is the surest guide.
Choosing a capacitor for the Pedrollo PKM65
Three things need to line up: capacitance, voltage and connections. Capacitance should match the old unit’s µF value, within about ±5%. Voltage must be the same as the original or higher; 450 VAC gives plenty of headroom on a standard 230 V household supply. The lug (spade) terminals on this CBB60 body take push-on connectors, so check your old capacitor is wired the same way.
The value appears on the side of the capacitor as µF, uF or MFD. Our Pedrollo PKM capacitor guide has more detail, and the same part is also sold as a general 14 µF 450 V capacitor.
Check the plate and the old capacitor on your PKM65
Look for PKM65 on the pump’s rating plate. The Pedrollo PKM60 and PKM90 are separate models that share this pump’s 12 mm seal, but sharing a seal does not mean sharing a capacitor value. Whatever the plate says, the µF printed on your old capacitor is the figure to match.
If the seal is also due, the Pedrollo PKM65 service kit pairs this capacitor with a 12 mm mechanical seal. Capacitors for other Pedrollo pumps are on our Pedrollo service kits page.
Signs the PKM65 capacitor has failed
A run capacitor stays in circuit the whole time a single-phase motor of this type is running. As it ages and loses capacitance, the motor works harder and hotter. Disconnect the power before touching it, because a capacitor can hold a charge after the pump is switched off.
- The motor hums but the shaft doesn’t turn, or it only starts after the shaft is flicked over by hand.
- The pump trips the breaker or thermal overload soon after starting.
- The motor runs hot and pressure is weaker than it used to be.
- The capacitor case is swollen, split or leaking.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
