The DAB Jet 300 takes a mechanical seal for a 17-18 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. This seal replaces DAB part number 200M/6, and the same seal is used in the DAB Jet 200 and the Ebara DWO 150M and DWO 200M. Measure the shaft where the old seal sits, or compare the old seal with the photos, before fitting.
DAB Jet 300 seal part number: 200M/6
The DAB part number for the Jet 300 shaft seal is 200M/6. This CapacitorsNZ seal is made to replace that part: a two-piece seal with a spring-loaded rotating face that rides on the 17-18 mm shaft and a stationary seat pressed into the pump casing. The running faces are carbon against ceramic.
A mechanical seal works by keeping two very flat faces in light contact, with a thin film of water between them. Once those faces are chipped, scored or heat-cracked, water gets past them, and no amount of tightening will stop it.

Signs the Jet 300 seal has failed
- Drips or a steady weep from the gap between the pump body and the motor.
- A wet patch, rust streak or white mineral crust under the motor end.
- On a pressure system, the pump cycling on and off with every tap closed as pressure leaks away (a leaking non-return valve can cause this too).
- A squeal from the seal area, often after the pump has run dry, which can crack or scorch the seal faces.
Seal on its own, or the DAB Jet 300 service kit
If the Jet 300 motor starts and runs normally, the seal is all you need. If it has also been humming before it starts or tripping the overload, the DAB Jet 300 service kit pairs this seal with a 40 µF (40 uF / 40 MFD) run capacitor, so both can be done while the pump is apart.
