The run capacitor we list to suit the DAB Jet 300 is 40 µF (40 uF / 40 MFD), 450 VAC, in a CBB60 motor-run body with core leads. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on your old capacitor: if it shows 40 µF, this is the match; if it shows a different figure, order that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the DAB Jet 300
A run capacitor stays in the motor circuit the whole time the pump is running, giving the motor’s start winding the phase shift it needs to start and to run smoothly. Two numbers matter when replacing one. The capacitance must match the old part, usually within about 5 percent, and the voltage rating must be the same as or higher than the original.
This one is 40 µF and 450 VAC, with core leads rather than spade terminals. The value is printed on the side of the old capacitor as µF, uF or MFD. Pumps can be rewired or fitted with different motors over the years, so always go by what your old capacitor says rather than the model name alone. The same 40 µF 450 V rating is also sold as our CBB60 40 µF 450 V capacitor; check its terminals suit your wiring.
Signs the Jet 300 capacitor is failing
- The motor hums but will not turn, or only starts if the shaft is flicked by hand.
- The pump trips the breaker or thermal overload soon after starting.
- The motor runs slow and hot, or the old capacitor case is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other pumps listed with a 40 µF capacitor
The same 40 µF 450 VAC rating is listed for the DAB Jet 251, DAB K14/400, DAB K36/100, DAB K55/50 and Ebara DWO 200M. A shared rating on paper is no guarantee for your own pump, so read the old capacitor on those models too.
If the Jet 300 is also weeping water behind the impeller, the DAB Jet 300 service kit pairs this capacitor with the 17-18 mm seal. Parts for other DAB pumps are under DAB service kits.
Swapping the Jet 300 capacitor safely
Turn the power off at the switchboard and unplug the pump before opening the terminal box. Treat the old capacitor as live until it has been safely discharged, as it can hold a charge after the power is off. Photograph which wires the old leads join to before disconnecting them, and if you are not confident working on mains wiring, have an electrician fit it.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
