This capacitor to suit the DAB K55/50 is a 40 µF (40 uF / 40 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with core leads. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on your existing capacitor: if it says 40 µF, this is the match. If it shows a different number, order that value instead, because a run capacitor has to match the original µF to drive the motor correctly.
Matching a capacitor to your DAB K55/50
The value is printed on the capacitor body as µF, uF or MFD, usually with a tolerance such as ±5%. Two numbers matter. The capacitance should equal the old one, and the voltage rating should be the same or higher. This part is 40 µF and 450 VAC; 450 VAC is a common rating for run capacitors on 230 V pump motors.
This CBB60 is a cylindrical body with core leads, so it is joined into the circuit with the wires rather than spade terminals. Note which wire went where before disconnecting the old one.
- Capacitance: 40 µF.
- Voltage: 450 VAC.
- Body: CBB60 motor-run.
- Connection: core leads.
Symptoms of a failing run capacitor
A run capacitor stays in circuit the whole time the motor is running, so as it weakens the motor loses torque and works harder. Turn the power off and discharge the old capacitor before handling it.
- The motor hums at switch-on but the shaft does not turn, or only starts after a flick by hand.
- The pump trips the breaker or thermal overload soon after starting.
- The motor runs slow and hot, or the capacitor case is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other pumps listed with 40 µF
The 40 µF rating is also listed for the DAB Jet 251, DAB Jet 300, DAB K14/400, DAB K36/100 and Ebara DWO 200M, and it is sold without a model name as the CBB60 40 µF 450 V capacitor. Whichever page you buy from, the µF on your old capacitor is what decides the right value.
If the K55/50 is also leaking at the shaft, the DAB K55/50 service kit pairs this capacitor with a 15 mm mechanical seal. Other DAB parts are under DAB service kits.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
