The DAB K55/50 uses a mechanical seal for a 15 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. The DAB seal number for this model is 100M/16, and this CapacitorsNZ seal replaces that number. The same seal is listed for several other DAB pumps, including the K45/50, K36/100 and DP151. Check your shaft size or compare the old seal with the photos before fitting.
DAB K55/50 seal specification
A mechanical seal stops water escaping where the pump shaft passes from the wet end into the motor. One half is a spring-loaded rotating head that turns with the shaft; the other is a stationary seat set into the casing. The two polished faces run against each other on a thin film of water.

How to tell the K55/50 seal is failing
A leaking seal is worth fixing promptly. Water running along the shaft can get into the motor bearings, and then a cheap seal job becomes a motor repair.
- Dripping or trickling from the gap between the pump body and the motor.
- Rust streaks, white mineral crust or a damp patch below the motor end.
- On a pressure system, the pump starting up repeatedly with all taps off.
Checking size and fitting
Measure the shaft diameter where the old seal sat, or set the old seal beside the photos. Fit both halves of the new seal together: never pair a new rotating head with an old seat. Keep the faces clean and free of fingerprints, wet the rubber parts with water or soapy water rather than grease, and never run the pump dry once it is reassembled.
