The DAB K30/70 takes a mechanical seal for a 15 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. This CapacitorsNZ seal replaces DAB seal number 100M/16. Like most pump mechanical seals, it comes in two halves: a spring-loaded rotating face that rides on the shaft and a stationary seat that sits in the pump casing. Measure your shaft and compare the old seal before fitting.
Signs the DAB K30/70 seal has failed
A worn seal rarely fails all at once. It usually starts as a slow weep and gets worse, so it pays to act on the early signs before water reaches the motor.
- Drips or a wet film between the pump casing and the motor.
- Rust streaks or a damp patch under the motor end.
- The pump cutting in and out when no taps are running, as pressure bleeds away.
- A squeal from the seal area, often after the pump has run dry.
Which pumps use the same seal
This 15 mm seal is listed for several other DAB pumps, each with its own page: the DAB DP151, DAB K12/200, DAB K14/400, DAB K30/100, DAB K35/40, DAB K36/100, DAB K45/50 and DAB K55/50.
It is also listed for the DAB DP100, KH35/100 and KH40/100, Davies JET Series 2.0-3.0Hp, K Series 1.5Hp and KA Series 1.5-2.0Hp, Ebara 2CDX, CD, CDX, JE and JEX, Grundfos JPF4, JPF5 and JPF7, Onga OCS 401-405, and Pentax CAB, CM150, CM200, CM300, TE and TF-JET. The same seal is sold on its own as our DAB K-series, Grundfos JPF and Ebara mechanical seal.
DAB K30/70 seal part number
DAB’s own reference for the K30/70 seal is 100M/16, and this seal is made to replace it. If your old seal or a parts list shows 100M/16, this is the matching replacement.
Even with the part number to hand, confirm the 15 mm shaft and compare the old seal before fitting. Seals and kits for other DAB pumps are collected on our DAB service kits page.
Fitting notes
Isolate the power and drain the pump before you start. Remove the old seat from the casing and clean the bore so the new seat sits square. Keep the lapped faces clean and free of oil or grease, and never touch them with your fingers. A little soapy water on the rubber parts helps them slide into place; avoid petroleum oil or grease, which can swell some rubber compounds. Once it is back together, prime the pump fully before starting it, because running a mechanical seal dry quickly overheats and damages its faces.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
