The DAB K36/100 takes a mechanical seal for a 15 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces, DAB reference 100M/16. This CapacitorsNZ seal replaces DAB 100M/16. It is a two-piece seal: a rotating head that rides on the shaft and a stationary seat set into the pump casing, with one face carbon and the other ceramic. Measure the shaft or compare the old seal before fitting.
Which pumps use the same seal as the DAB K36/100
The 100M/16-type seal in the K36/100 is shared across a number of DAB pumps with their own listings here: the DAB DP151, DAB K12/200, DAB K14/400, DAB K30/100, DAB K30/70, DAB K35/40, DAB K45/50 and DAB K55/50.
It is also listed for pumps that don’t have a page of their own, including the DAB DP100, KH35/100 and KH40/100, Ebara CD, CDX, 2CDX, JE and JEX, Grundfos JPF4, JPF5 and JPF7, Onga OCS 401-405, and the Pentax CAB, CM150, CM200, CM300, TE and TF-JET. The same seal is sold on its own as our 15 mm carbon / ceramic pump seal.
Signs the K36/100 seal has failed
Mechanical seal faces wear slowly, then start to weep. Catch it early: water that tracks along the shaft into the motor can wreck the motor bearings.
- Drips or a steady weep from the gap between the pump casing and the motor.
- A damp patch, scale or rust streak under the motor end.
- On a pressure system, the pump cutting in and out with every tap closed as pressure slowly leaks away.
Measuring and fitting notes
Measure the bare shaft where the seal sits with vernier callipers; it should read 15 mm. Always fit both halves of the new seal and throw away the old seat, because a new head running on an old seat is likely to leak.
Keep the polished faces spotless and don’t touch them with your fingers. Ease the rubber parts on with a little soapy water rather than oil or grease, and never run the pump dry once it is reassembled: prime it first, as even a short spell without water can damage the faces.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
