The DAB K45/50 takes a mechanical seal for a 15 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. DAB’s seal number for this model is 100M/16, and this CapacitorsNZ seal replaces it. The same seal is listed for other DAB K models such as the K30/70, K35/40 and K55/50. Measure the shaft or compare your old seal with the photos before fitting.
DAB K45/50 mechanical seal specs
A pump mechanical seal has two halves: a spring-loaded rotating head that turns with the shaft, and a stationary seat held in the pump casing. Their lapped faces run together on a thin film of water, which stops the pump leaking where the shaft passes through.
- Shaft size: 15 mm.
- Face materials: carbon / ceramic.
- Replaces DAB seal number 100M/16.

Within DAB, this seal is listed for the DP151, K12/200, K14/400, K30/70, K30/100, K35/40, K36/100 and K55/50, plus the DAB DP100, KH35/100 and KH40/100.
Outside DAB it is listed for the Davies JET Series 2.0-3.0Hp, Davies K Series 1.5Hp and KA Series 1.5-2.0Hp; Ebara 2CDX, CD, CDX, JE and JEX; Grundfos JPF4, JPF5 and JPF7; Onga OCS 401-405; and Pentax CAB, CM150, CM200, CM300, TE and TF-JET. The identical part is also sold without a model name as our 15 mm DAB K / Grundfos JPF / Ebara pump seal. Seals and kits for the rest of the DAB range are on our DAB service kits page.
Signs the K45/50 seal is leaking
Don’t leave a weeping seal. Water that tracks along the shaft can reach the motor bearings and ruin them, which turns a seal job into a motor job.
- Drips or a steady trickle from between the pump casing and the motor.
- White scale, rust marks or a wet patch under the motor end.
- On a pressure set-up, the pump cutting in again and again with every tap shut.
Measuring the shaft and fitting the new seal
Isolate the power and drain the pump before you start. Measure the shaft diameter where the seal sits with vernier callipers rather than going by eye. Fit the new rotating head and new seat as a pair, never one new half against one old half. Keep the faces spotless, handle them by the edges, and ease them in with clean or slightly soapy water, not grease or oil.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
