The mechanical seal that fits the DAB K14/400 is a 15 mm shaft seal with carbon / ceramic faces, and it replaces DAB seal number 100M/16. This CapacitorsNZ aftermarket seal is not made by DAB, and it is also listed for other DAB K models, including the K12/200 and K55/50. Measure your shaft or compare the old seal with the photos before fitting.
DAB K14/400 seal size, faces and part number
DAB’s own reference for this seal is 100M/16. Ours is an aftermarket replacement in the same size. Like most pump mechanical seals, it comes in two halves: a spring-loaded head that turns with the shaft, and a stationary seat pressed into the pump casing. The lapped carbon and ceramic faces run against each other on a thin film of water, and that contact is what stops the pump leaking along the shaft.
- Shaft size: 15 mm.
- Faces: carbon / ceramic.
- Replaces: DAB 100M/16.

Signs the K14/400 seal is leaking
Change a leaking seal early. Water that gets past the faces travels along the shaft into the motor, and a seal job can turn into a motor rebuild once the front bearing has rusted.
- Water dripping or weeping from the gap between the pump body and the motor.
- Rust streaks or a white mineral crust on the shaft or under the pump.
- On a pressure set-up, the pump cutting in with every tap shut (a leaking valve or pipe can also cause this).
Fitting a new seal in the K14/400
Always fit both halves of the new seal; a new head running on an old seat will not last. Keep the faces spotless, lubricate the rubber parts with soapy water rather than grease, and press the seat in square. Never run the pump dry after fitting, because the faces rely on water for cooling.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
