About this part

The Ebara DWO 200M is listed with a 40 µF (40 uF / 40 MFD) run capacitor. This CapacitorsNZ replacement is a 40 µF, 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with core leads. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on your old capacitor: if it shows 40 µF, this is the right part; if it shows a different value, order that value instead.

Choosing the right capacitor for the Ebara DWO 200M

A run capacitor stays in circuit the whole time the motor is running, helping it start and run efficiently. The number that matters is the capacitance, printed on the side of the old part as µF, uF or MFD. A replacement should match that value, normally within ±5%, and carry a voltage rating at least as high as the original. At 450 VAC this one gives comfortable headroom on standard NZ 230 V mains.

Pumps can be rewired or fitted with a replacement motor over their life, so always go by the µF on the capacitor you are taking out rather than the model name alone.

Signs the DWO 200M capacitor has failed

Run capacitors gradually lose capacitance with heat and age. Common symptoms:

  • the motor hums but will not turn, or only starts if the shaft is flicked by hand
  • the pump trips the breaker or thermal overload soon after starting
  • the motor runs hot or sounds sluggish
  • the old capacitor case is swollen, split or leaking

Fitting it, and other pumps listed with 40 µF 450 VAC

Switch off and isolate the power to the pump, then discharge the old capacitor before touching its wires. Note which wire goes where, or take a photo, before you disconnect it. Connect the two core leads to the same two points the old capacitor was wired to. A run capacitor is not polarised, so either lead can go to either point. If you are not confident with mains wiring, have an electrician fit it.

The same 40 µF, 450 VAC rating is listed for the DAB Jet 251, DAB Jet 300, DAB K14/400, DAB K36/100 and DAB K55/50. The part is also sold as a plain 40 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor. Replacing the seal at the same time? The Ebara DWO 200M service kit includes both, and more Ebara listings are on our Ebara parts page.

Before you order

Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.

Questions

What size capacitor does an Ebara DWO 200M take?

The Ebara DWO 200M is listed with a 40 µF, 450 VAC run capacitor. Always match the µF printed on your old capacitor, and order that value if it differs.

Can I use a higher voltage capacitor on my DWO 200M?

Yes, a higher voltage rating is fine as long as the µF matches. This replacement for the Ebara DWO 200M carries a 450 VAC rating.

What terminals does the Ebara DWO 200M capacitor have?

This 40 µF capacitor to suit the Ebara DWO 200M has flying leads rather than spade terminals.

How do I know if my DWO 200M capacitor is faulty?

A humming motor that will not start, a pump that trips the breaker soon after starting, or a swollen capacitor case are the usual signs. Once the old capacitor is discharged, a multimeter with a capacitance setting can confirm whether it has drifted below its printed µF.

Is there a kit with the seal and capacitor for the DWO 200M?

Yes. The Ebara DWO 200M service kit includes this capacitor and the matching mechanical seal.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
