The Onga Pantera PPP1500 is listed with a 25 µF (25 uF / 25 MFD) run capacitor. This replacement is a 25 µF, 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with core leads. Before ordering, read the value printed on your old capacitor (µF, uF or MFD): if it shows anything other than 25 µF, order that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Onga Pantera PPP1500
The label codes PPP1500, PPP1500H and Pantera 1500 tell you which pump you have, but the number that decides the capacitor is the one printed on the old capacitor itself. Match it exactly; run capacitors are normally made to within about 5% of their marked value, and a different µF changes how the motor starts and runs.
Voltage works the other way: the replacement needs to be rated for at least the voltage on the original, so a 450 VAC part is fine in place of a lower-voltage one on a 230 V supply. This one has core leads, so check how your old capacitor connects before you order.
Signs the PPP1500 capacitor has failed
- The motor hums at switch-on but the shaft does not turn, or only starts after a flick by hand.
- The pump trips the breaker or its overload soon after starting.
- The motor runs hot or sounds laboured.
- The old capacitor is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other pumps listed with a 25 µF capacitor
The same 25 µF rating is listed for the AstralPool CTX, DAB Aquajet 112M, DAB Aquajet 132M, DAB K12/200, Grundfos JP6 and Onga Pantera PPP1100. The capacitor is also sold as a stand-alone 25 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor. For more on this pump’s capacitor, see the Onga Pantera PPP1500 capacitor guide. If the pump is due for a full service, the PPP1500 service kit includes this capacitor along with the seal and bearings. Other Onga models are under Onga service kits.
Fitting the PPP1500 capacitor safely
Isolate the pump at the switchboard before opening the terminal box. A run capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, so discharge it safely before touching the leads or terminals. If you are not confident working on mains wiring, have an electrician fit it.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
