The mechanical seal to suit the Davey Mukmova is a 1″ shaft seal with carbon / ceramic faces. Davey’s seal number for the Mukmova is 48800SP, and the same seal also replaces Onga 700274. This aftermarket CapacitorsNZ seal is also listed for the Mukmova 25301 and the Prime Jet 200 and 240. Measure the shaft or compare the old seal before you fit it.
Davey Mukmova seal part numbers
Matching by number is often easier than measuring, especially if the old seal is still on the shaft. This seal replaces these references:
- Davey 48800SP, the seal number for the Mukmova
- Onga 700274
Other Davey and Onga pumps that take the same seal
The same 1″ seal is listed for the Davey Mukmova 25301, the Davey Prime Jet 200 and the Davey Prime Jet 240. The Onga 185 uses it too, though it has no page of its own here. It is also sold as a standalone part, our 1″ seal for the Onga 185, Prime Jet and Mukmova. Seals and kits for other Davey pumps are on our Davey service kits page.
How to tell the Mukmova seal is leaking
A mechanical seal is two lapped faces pressed together by a spring: one spins with the shaft, the other is a fixed seat in the pump casing. Grit, scale or a dry run scores those faces and water starts to get past. Change it at the first sign of a leak, because water creeping along the shaft is a common way motor bearings get ruined.
- drips or a wet line running from the joint between the pump body and the motor
- the pump cutting in on its own when no tap is open
- rust stains or white mineral crust on the motor base
Fitting notes for the 1″ seal
A 1″ shaft measures 25.4 mm, so check with a vernier where the seal sits if you are unsure. Turn off and isolate the power, drain the pump, and separate the motor from the pump end. The impeller comes off to free the spinning half of the seal, and the stationary seat presses out of the casing. Clean the recess, push the new seat in square without touching its polished face, and use water or a little dishwashing liquid on the rubber parts, never oil or grease. Prime the pump fully before switching on, as even a short dry run can damage new seal faces.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
