The Davey Prime Jet 200 jet pump takes a mechanical seal for a 1″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. Davey’s part number for this seal is 48800SP, and the same seal is also referenced as Onga 700274. This CapacitorsNZ seal replaces both numbers. Measure your shaft or compare with the old seal before fitting.
Davey Prime Jet 200 seal part numbers
If you are matching by number rather than by measuring, this seal replaces the following references.
The same seal is also sold on its own as our jet pump seal, listed against the Onga 185 and the Davey pumps that share it.
- Davey 48800SP, the seal number for the Prime Jet 200
- Onga 700274
Which pumps use the same seal
The 1″ seal from the Prime Jet 200 also fits the Davey Prime Jet 240, the Davey Mukmova and the Davey Mukmova 25301. It is used in the Onga 185 as well, which does not have its own page here. Seals and kits for other Davey models are on our Davey service kits page.
Signs the Prime Jet 200 seal is leaking
A mechanical seal works by holding two very flat faces together, one turning with the shaft and one sitting still in the pump body. Once grit scores those faces, or the pump runs dry and overheats them, water gets past. Deal with it early: water travelling along the shaft can ruin the motor bearings.
- a drip or steady trickle from the gap between the pump housing and the motor
- white crusting, rust marks or a wet patch on the base under the motor
Fitting notes for the Prime Jet 200 seal
Isolate the power, drain the pump, then separate the motor from the pump end to reach the impeller. Removing the impeller frees the rotating half of the seal; the stationary seat presses out of the housing. Clean the shaft and seat recess, fit the new seat square without touching its polished face, and lubricate the rubber parts with water or soapy water rather than oil or grease. Prime the pump before switching on, as a seal that runs dry can be damaged almost straight away.
If the motor has also been slow to start, the Prime Jet 200 service kit pairs this seal with the 40 µF (40 uF / 40 MFD) capacitor for the same pump.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
