The capacitor listed for the Davey Prime Jet 200 is a 40 µF (40 uF / 40 MFD) run capacitor with a 450 VAC rating, in a CBB60 motor-run body with lug (spade) terminals. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on your old capacitor: if it says 40 µF, this one matches. If it shows a different value, choose that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey Prime Jet 200
The number that matters is capacitance. This listing is 40 µF, and a replacement should be within about 5% of the value printed on the old part. The voltage only needs to be equal to or higher than the original, so a 450 VAC capacitor covers one marked 400 or 450 VAC.
Find the value on the label of the old capacitor, where it may be written as µF, uF or MFD. A pump may have had a different capacitor fitted during an earlier repair, so go by what is printed on the part in your pump. This capacitor is also sold as a plain 40 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
Signs the Prime Jet 200 capacitor has failed
Capacitors lose capacitance gradually, so a failing one often shows up as a slow, hot-running motor well before it stops altogether. A multimeter with a capacitance setting can check it: a reading well below the printed value means it is due for replacement.
- the motor hums at switch-on but the shaft does not turn
- the pump only starts after the shaft or fan is spun by hand
- the motor runs hot, trips the overload, or pumps weaker than it used to
- the old capacitor case is swollen, split or leaking
Other pumps listed with a 40 µF capacitor
The same 40 µF 450 VAC capacitor is listed for the Davey Prime Jet 240, the Davey Mukmova and the Davey Mukmova 25301. The same check applies on those pumps: match the µF on the old capacitor. Parts for other Davey models are listed on our Davey service kits page.
Swapping the Prime Jet 200 capacitor safely
Switch off and isolate the pump, then wait before touching the terminals, because a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Discharge it safely, photograph the wiring, and move the leads across one at a time onto the lug terminals of the new capacitor. If you are not confident with mains wiring, have an electrician fit it.
Changing the seal at the same time? The Prime Jet 200 service kit includes this capacitor and the 1″ seal.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
