The capacitor listed to suit the Davey Prime Jet 240 is a 40 µF (40 uF / 40 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on the side of your old capacitor and make sure it says 40 µF; if your pump’s capacitor shows another value, choose that value instead, because the rating has to match.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey Prime Jet 240
The number that matters is the capacitance, printed as µF, uF or MFD on the old capacitor’s label. A replacement should match it, normally within ±5%. The voltage rating only needs to be the same or higher than the original; this one carries a 450 VAC rating, which comfortably covers a normal 230 V household supply.
Terminal style matters for an easy swap. This capacitor has lug (spade) terminals, so if your old one has spade terminals too, the existing push-on connectors go straight back on. If your old one has flying leads instead, get in touch with a photo and we will help you check.
Signs the Prime Jet 240 capacitor is failing
A run capacitor gives the motor the phase shift it needs to start turning and keeps it running efficiently. When one weakens, the symptoms tend to look like this:
- the motor hums on start-up but the shaft does not turn
- it only starts after the shaft is given a flick by hand
- the pump trips the breaker or its thermal overload soon after starting
- the old capacitor looks swollen, cracked or has leaked
Other pumps listed with the same 40 µF rating
Our listings show the same 40 µF rating for the Davey Prime Jet 200, the Davey Mukmova and the Davey Mukmova 25301. The same unit is also sold as a plain 40 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor. Always go by the label on the capacitor you are taking out, not just the pump model. Disconnect the power and discharge the old capacitor before you touch its terminals.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
