The Davey PowerMaster PM450 capacitor listed here is a 30 µF (30 uF / 30 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals, for the pump’s single-phase 1.8 kW motor. The µF value has to match, so read the figure printed on your old capacitor (µF, uF or MFD) before ordering; if it shows a different value, choose that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey PowerMaster PM450
A run capacitor stays in circuit the whole time the motor is turning, giving the motor’s second winding the phase shift it needs. Three things matter when picking a replacement: capacitance, voltage and how it connects.
The PM450 or PM 450 marking on the rating plate tells you which pump you have, but the capacitor fitted to your motor is the final word on the value. Check the value printed on it before you buy.
- Capacitance: this listing is 30 µF. It should match your old capacitor within about ±5%.
- Voltage: 450 VAC. A replacement must be rated at or above the original, never lower.
- Connection: lug (spade) terminals on a CBB60 cylindrical body.
Signs the PowerMaster PM450 capacitor has failed
Run capacitors degrade with heat and age and slowly lose capacitance. A weak one leaves the motor short of torque. Before touching it, isolate the pump from the power and discharge the capacitor safely, as it can hold a charge even after the power is off.
- The motor hums but the shaft won’t turn, or only starts after a flick by hand.
- The motor’s overload or the circuit breaker trips soon after starting.
- The motor runs slow and hot.
- The old capacitor case is swollen, split or leaking.
Other Davey pumps listed with the same 30 µF rating
This 30 µF 450 VAC rating is also listed for the Davey Prime Jet 90, Davey Prime Jet 115 and Davey Prime Jet 150. The same part is sold without a model name as a 30 µF 450V CBB60 capacitor. For wiring and rating notes, see the PowerMaster PM450 capacitor guide.
If the seal is also due, the Davey PowerMaster PM450 service kit pairs this capacitor with the mechanical seal. Parts for other Davey pumps are under Davey service kits.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
