About this part

The Onga Leisuretime LTP400 motor runs on two sealed ball bearings, one at the drive end next to the pump and one at the fan end. This CapacitorsNZ set is a matched pair covering both positions, so the motor gets new bearings at each end in a single job. It is an aftermarket set to suit the LTP400, so compare it with the bearings in your old motor before pressing it on.

Signs the Onga Leisuretime LTP400 motor bearings are worn

Bearing wear is mostly something you hear before you see it. With the pump switched off at the wall, take off the fan cover at the back of the motor, turn the fan by hand and feel for roughness.

  • A growl, grinding note or rising whine from the motor that was not there before.
  • The shaft feeling gritty, notchy or loose when turned by hand with the power off.
  • The motor running hotter than usual, from the extra drag of a rough bearing.
  • Noise that began after a leak at the seal, a common way water reaches the bearings.

Why both bearings are changed together

The drive-end and fan-end bearings carry the same shaft and have done the same hours, so when one has worn out the other is rarely far behind. Getting at either bearing means pulling the motor apart, which is most of the labour. Fitting the pair at once means you only open the LTP400 motor once, and the shaft ends up running true in two new bearings rather than one new and one tired.

Other pumps that use this bearing set

The same bearing set is listed for the DAB Jet 82M, DAB Jetinox 90M, DAB Jetinox 110M, Onga Leisuretime LTP550 and Onga Leisuretime LTP750. For other Onga models, start from our Onga service kits page.

Fitting new bearings in the LTP400 motor

Hold each new bearing against the matching old one and confirm the bore, outside size and width are the same. When pressing a bearing onto the shaft, push only on the inner ring, and when pressing into a housing push only on the outer ring, otherwise the force goes through the balls, which can dent the tracks and leave the new bearing noisy from day one. If the LTP400 seal was leaking, replace it too, or the new bearings will face the same water. The LTP400 mechanical seal is sold separately, or both parts come together in the LTP400 service kit.

Before you order

Check the old part before fitting: match the bearings in your old motor.

Questions

What bearings does the Onga Leisuretime LTP400 motor take?

The LTP400 motor uses two sealed ball bearings, one at the drive end and one at the fan end. This set supplies both as a matched pair.

Do I need to replace both bearings in the Onga Leisuretime LTP400?

Yes, it is good practice. Both bearings in the Onga Leisuretime LTP400 motor have done the same hours, and the motor has to come apart to reach either one.

Do the LTP550 and LTP750 use the same bearings as the LTP400?

Yes. The Onga Leisuretime LTP550 and LTP750 are listed for the same bearing set as the LTP400, as are the DAB Jet 82M, Jetinox 90M and Jetinox 110M.

Why is my Onga Leisuretime LTP400 motor noisy?

A growl or whine from an LTP400 motor often means worn bearings, sometimes after water has got past a leaking seal. Check the shaft by hand with the power off: roughness points to the bearings.

Should I change the Onga Leisuretime LTP400 seal at the same time as the bearings?

If the seal has been leaking, yes, otherwise water will reach the new bearings too. The LTP400 service kit includes the seal and this bearing set.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
