The bearing set to suit the DAB Jet 82M is a matched pair of sealed ball bearings: one for the drive end of the motor shaft, next to the pump, and one for the fan end. They come as a pair because both carry the same rotor and the motor has to be pulled apart to reach either. Compare the new bearings with those in your old motor before pressing them on.
Signs the DAB Jet 82M bearings are worn
Motor bearings rarely fail suddenly. The noise usually builds gradually, and it is often set off by water getting past a leaking shaft seal and into the drive-end bearing.
- A grinding, rumbling or high-pitched whine from the motor while it runs.
- The shaft feels rough, gritty or notchy when you turn it by hand with the power off.
- Noticeable side-to-side play at the shaft, or the fan rubbing on its cover.
- The motor running hotter than usual or tripping its overload.
Other pumps that use the Jet 82M bearing set
The same drive-end and fan-end pair is listed for the DAB Jetinox 90M and DAB Jetinox 110M, and for the Onga Leisuretime range: the LTP400, LTP550 and LTP750. If you look after more than one of these pumps, the set is the same part number on our side.
Changing the Jet 82M motor bearings
Isolate the power, separate the motor from the pump end, then take off the fan cover and fan to free the rotor from its end shields. Use a puller on the inner race to draw the old bearings off. When fitting the new ones, press only on the inner race with a tube of the right size; pressing or tapping on the outer race damages the balls and tracks before the motor has even run. Check the shaft journals are clean and unworn, and fix whatever let water in, usually the seal, before you put the motor back together.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the bearings in your old motor.
