The DAB Jet 82M takes a mechanical seal for a 13 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces, replacing DAB seal 61M/16. This CapacitorsNZ seal fits the Jet 82M and is shared by other DAB jet pumps such as the Jet 102M and Jetinox 90M. Like most pump shaft seals it has two halves: a spring-loaded face that turns with the shaft and a fixed seat in the casing. Measure your shaft or compare the old seal before fitting.
Pumps that share the DAB Jet 82M seal
The seal that replaces DAB 61M/16 suits a wide spread of jet pumps. These models have their own seal page: DAB Aquajet 102M, DAB Aquajet 112M, DAB Aquajet 132M, DAB Jet 102M, DAB Jet 151, DAB Jet 251, DAB Jetinox 90M, DAB Jetinox 110M and DAB K20/41.
It also suits pumps that don’t have a page of their own: DAB Aquajet 82M, Jet 61, Jet 81 and Jet 100; Davies JAP Series up to 1.0Hp and the JET, K, KA and KP Series up to 1.2Hp; Grundfos JPF2 and JPF3; Onga SF55-65; Pentax CAM, CM50, CM75, CM100, INOX, JMC, JMRC, JPL and JX; and Saer CMP76, CMP79 and M60-M100. The seal is also sold under its generic name as our jet pump seal.
Signs the Jet 82M seal has failed
- Water dripping or spraying from the gap between the pump casing and the motor.
- A pressure pump that cycles on and off by itself with every tap shut.
- Rust streaks, scale or a damp patch under the motor end.
- A squeal from the seal area after the pump has been run dry, which can crack or scorch the faces.
Fitting a new seal to the Jet 82M
Clean the seat recess in the casing back to bare, smooth metal before pressing the new seat in, and keep fingers off both lapped faces. Lubricate the rubber parts with water or a little soapy water rather than grease or oil, which can attack the rubber and stop the faces bedding in. Never run the pump dry after fitting: prime it first, because the faces rely on water for cooling. If the shaft is pitted or scored where the seal sits, a new seal will not stay dry for long.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
