The mechanical seal to suit the DAB Jetinox 90M is a 13 mm shaft seal with carbon / ceramic faces. It replaces DAB part 61M/16, the seal number DAB gives for this model, and is an aftermarket CapacitorsNZ part. The same seal is shared by several DAB Jet, Aquajet and Jetinox models, so measure the shaft and compare your old seal before fitting.
DAB Jetinox 90M seal specs and part number (61M/16)
Shaft size 13 mm, carbon / ceramic faces, replaces DAB 61M/16. Like most pump shaft seals it comes in two halves: a spring-loaded rotating face that rides on the shaft behind the impeller, and a stationary seat that presses into the pump casing. The two polished faces run against each other on a thin film of water, which is what stops the pump leaking along the shaft.
This seal is also listed under a general name as our 13 mm jet pump seal, which is handy if you are searching by size rather than by pump model.
Signs the Jetinox 90M seal has failed
- A drip or trickle from the gap between the pump casing and the motor.
- The pump starting up now and then with all the taps off, if it runs on a pressure switch.
- A wet patch, white mineral crust or rust streaks under the motor end.
- Squealing or chirping from the seal area, often after the pump has run dry; running dry overheats the seal faces and can crack them.

Fitting the Jetinox 90M seal
Clean the seat bore in the casing and the shaft thoroughly, and polish off any scale. Keep fingers and grease off the lapped faces. A little water or soapy water helps the rubber parts slide into place; avoid oil and grease, because some seal rubbers swell with petroleum products and any film on the faces stops them sealing. Prime the pump before starting so the new seal never runs dry.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
