The DAB Aquajet 112M takes a mechanical seal for a 13 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. DAB’s seal number for this pump is 61M/16, and this aftermarket CapacitorsNZ seal replaces DAB 61M/16. The same seal is listed for several other DAB jet pumps, including the Aquajet 102M and Aquajet 132M, so confirm the 13 mm shaft size and the 61M/16 reference against your old seal.
DAB Aquajet 112M mechanical seal specification
Shaft size: 13 mm. Faces: carbon against ceramic. Replaces: DAB 61M/16. It suits the 1.0 kW single-phase Aquajet 112M jet pressure pump used for well supply. Look for Aquajet 112M, or just Aquajet 112, on the motor label.
A mechanical seal has two halves. A spring-loaded rotating face turns with the shaft, and a stationary seat is fitted into the pump body; on this seal one face is carbon and the other ceramic. The two polished faces run against each other on a thin film of water, which is why a seal should never be run dry.
Signs the Aquajet 112M seal has failed
- Water dripping from the gap between the pump casing and the motor.
- The pump cutting in and out when no taps are open, because it can’t hold pressure.
- Rust staining, a wet base or a crusty mineral trail under the motor end.
- A squealing noise from the seal area, especially after the pump has run without water.

Fitting a new seal to the Aquajet 112M
Turn off and isolate the power, drain the pump, then separate the motor from the casing to reach the impeller. With the old seal out, measure the shaft where it sat and compare the old seal against the new one. Clean the seat bore, press the new stationary seat in square using only water or a little dish soap as lubricant, and keep fingers and grease off both faces. Prime the pump fully before starting it so the new faces never run dry. Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
