The bearing set to suit the Onga Pantera PPP1100 is a matched pair of sealed ball bearings for the motor: one for the drive end (pump side) and one for the fan end. Replace both at the same time, because they have done the same hours and the motor has to come apart either way. Compare your old bearings with these before fitting.
Signs the Onga Pantera PPP1100 motor bearings are worn
- A grinding, rumbling or high-pitched whine from the motor that gets louder over time.
- The shaft feels rough, gritty or loose when turned by hand with the power off.
- Noise that began after a leaking seal let water reach the motor.
- The motor running hotter than it used to.
Why both bearings are changed together
The drive-end and fan-end bearings carry the same shaft and have run for the same hours, so when one is noisy the other is rarely far behind. Replacing only the loud one usually means stripping the motor down again a short time later. Fitting the pair together also lets you check the shaft and the end housings while everything is open.
Pumps that share this bearing set
The same set is listed for the Onga Leisuretime LTP1100, Onga Pantera PPP550, Onga Pantera PPP750 and Onga Pantera PPP1500. Other Onga parts are grouped on our Onga service kits page.
Fitting new bearings to the Pantera PPP1100 motor
Use a bearing puller to remove the old bearings rather than levering them off. When pressing new ones on, push only on the inner ring so the balls and races aren’t damaged, and never hammer on the outer ring. A seal leak is a common reason pump bearings fail, so if water has been getting into the motor, change the Pantera PPP1100 mechanical seal at the same time, or order the service kit to cover both.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the bearings in your old motor.
