The bearing set to suit the Onga Pantera PPP750 pool pump is a matched pair of sealed ball bearings: one for the drive end of the motor shaft, on the pump side, and one for the fan end. Both come together because they wear together. Compare them with the bearings in your old motor before pressing them on.
Signs the Pantera PPP750 motor bearings are worn
Worn bearings get louder over time and eventually let the rotor drag, which overheats the motor. Catching them early can save the motor itself.
- A growl, rumble or rising whine from the motor while it runs
- The shaft feels rough, notchy or gritty when turned by hand with the power off
- Side-to-side play in the shaft
- Noise that started after the pump seal leaked
Why change both bearings
The drive-end and fan-end bearings have run the same hours in the same conditions. If one is noisy the other is usually close behind, and the motor has to be stripped to reach either of them. Replacing the pair means you only do that work once.
Fitting notes
Use a proper bearing puller to take the old bearings off, and press the new ones on by the inner ring only, with a tube that bears on that ring. Pressing or tapping on the outer ring or the shields can mark the balls and tracks before the motor has even run. Check the shaft is clean and undamaged first.
Water getting into the motor is a common reason pool pump bearings fail early, so if the seal has been leaking, change it as well. The Pantera PPP750 mechanical seal and the full Pantera PPP750 service kit are listed separately.
Pumps that share the Onga Pantera PPP750 bearing set
The same bearing set is listed for the Onga Pantera PPP550, Onga Pantera PPP1100, Onga Pantera PPP1500 and Onga Leisuretime LTP1100.
Before you order
