About this part

The Onga Pantera PPP750 pool pump uses a mechanical seal for a 3/4″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces. This CapacitorsNZ seal replaces Onga part 700270 and Astral 75508. It suits pumps labelled PPP750, PPP750-2 or Pantera 750. Measure the shaft or compare your old seal with this one before you fit it.

Onga Pantera PPP750 seal part numbers: 700270 and 75508

Onga lists the Pantera PPP750 seal as 700270. It also replaces Astral 75508, so either number can be used to match it. Ours is an aftermarket replacement made to suit those numbers.

Like most pool pump seals it comes in two halves: a spring-loaded rotating face that turns with the shaft, and a stationary seat held in the pump housing. The carbon and ceramic faces run against each other on a thin film of water, which is what keeps the pump water out of the motor. The same seal is also sold on its own, without model branding, as our Onga / Astral / Poolrite pool pump seal.

Which pumps use the same 700270 seal

The 700270 seal is shared across a wide range of pumps, not only pool pumps. These have their own seal page: AstralPool CTX, AstralPool CX180, AstralPool CX240, AstralPool CX280, Filtermaster SB20, Filtermaster SB30, Onga Leisuretime LTP1100, Onga Pantera PPP1100 and Onga Pantera PPP1500.

It is also listed for many pumps without a page of their own, including the Onga 500 Series, Onga JJ600 and OJ700, Poolrite Enduro and Quietline, Poolquip Hustler, Davey 93870 and Waterco Charger. Whichever pump you have, check the shaft size on your own unit before fitting.

Signs the PPP750 seal has failed

A leaking seal does not fix itself. Change it early, because water running along the shaft into the motor can ruin the bearings and turn a seal job into a motor job.

  • Water dripping or weeping from the gap between the pump housing and the motor
  • Salt, rust or white mineral crust on the underside of the motor
  • A damp patch or puddle under the pump that keeps coming back

Fitting notes

Turn off and isolate the power before you start. Keep the new faces clean, handle them by the edges and never touch the polished surfaces with greasy fingers. A little soapy water on the rubber parts helps them slide into place; avoid oil or grease, which can make the rubber swell. Press the seat in square and evenly, and make sure the pump is full of water before it runs so the faces never run dry.

Before you order

Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.

Questions

What seal fits an Onga Pantera PPP750?

A mechanical seal for a 3/4″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces, replacing Onga 700270. This CapacitorsNZ seal is made to suit the Pantera PPP750, including the PPP750-2 code.

What is the Onga part number for the Pantera PPP750 seal?

Onga lists the Pantera PPP750 seal as 700270. The same seal for the Pantera PPP750 is also known as Astral 75508.

Does the Onga Pantera PPP1100 use the same seal as the PPP750?

Yes. The Onga Pantera PPP1100 and PPP1500 are listed with the same 3/4″ seal as the PPP750. See the Pantera PPP1100 seal page.

Can I replace just the seal on a Pantera PPP750?

Yes, the seal on an Onga Pantera PPP750 can be changed on its own. If the motor is noisy or water has got into it, the Pantera PPP750 service kit adds the bearings and capacitor. Other Onga kits are on our Onga service kits page.

How do I check the shaft size on my Onga Pantera PPP750?

With the old seal off, measure the shaft where the seal sits using vernier callipers. The Pantera PPP750 seal suits a 3/4″ shaft, which is about 19 mm.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
