The Davey PCCR150 pool cleaner/booster pump takes a mechanical seal for a 16 mm shaft. Signs the PCCR150 seal is failing
- Drips or a damp patch where the pump housing meets the motor.
- White scale or a rust streak running down beneath the motor end.
- Noisy or rough-running motor bearings after a spell of leaking, a sign water has already reached them.
Fitting notes for the PCCR150 seal
Turn off and isolate the power, then drain the pump before opening it. A mechanical seal is a matched pair: the spring-loaded rotating half rides on the shaft and the stationary seat sits in the pump housing, so always change both halves together and never reuse an old seat. Keep the two polished faces spotlessly clean and free of grease or fingerprints. A little soapy water on the rubber parts helps them slide home without tearing. Silicon carbide faces are hard but brittle, so press the seat in evenly and don’t knock it. Make sure the pump is full of water before switching it on, because running a mechanical seal dry can quickly damage the faces.
