The run capacitor listed for the Davey PowerMaster pool pump is 20 µF at 450 VAC, in a CBB60 motor-run body with lug (spade) terminals. Before ordering, read the value printed on the side of your old capacitor: if it says 20 µF (or 20 uF / 20 MFD), this is the one. If it shows a different value, order that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey PowerMaster
The PowerMaster is a single-phase pump, and its motor runs with the capacitor permanently connected. A replacement must match the microfarad value of the old one, normally within about 5%, and must have a voltage rating at least as high as the original. This one is 450 VAC, which covers a normal 230 V household supply.
Model codes such as PM200, PM250 and PM350 help you confirm you have a PowerMaster, but don’t assume every code or version takes 20 µF. The number printed on your old capacitor is what decides it. The PowerMaster PM450 has its own PM450 capacitor listing. Our Davey PowerMaster capacitor guide walks through reading the label.
Symptoms of a failing run capacitor
Run capacitors lose capacitance gradually as they age and heat-cycle, so a pump can start fine for months and then begin struggling to start or running hotter than before.
- The motor hums but won’t turn, or only starts after the shaft is flicked by hand.
- The breaker or motor overload trips soon after switching on.
- The pump runs slow and hot, or the old capacitor case is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other pumps listed with the same 20 µF 450 VAC rating
This 20 µF 450 VAC rating is also listed for the Pedrollo PKM90. The bare capacitor is sold as our CBB60 20 µF 450 V capacitor. If the PowerMaster’s seal is also due, the Davey PowerMaster service kit pairs this capacitor with the seal, and more Davey models are on our Davey service kits page.
Swapping the PowerMaster capacitor safely
- Turn the power off at the switchboard, not just at the pump timer.
- Photograph the wiring before you disconnect the old capacitor so the new one goes back the same way.
- Treat the old capacitor as live: it can hold a charge after the pump is switched off.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
