Old part rated 370V or 440V? A 450V cap is the correct replacement for any motor-run capacitor rated 450V or below: the voltage is a ceiling, not a target; never fit a lower one. Match the µF on your old capacitor's label, within ±5%.

What you're buying

A 20µF 450VAC motor run capacitor in the CBB60 body, designed to run continuously while the motor is operating. This listing covers every terminal style (Lug Terminal or Core Lead): choose yours from the Terminal dropdown above to match how your old capacitor's wires come out. The µF and voltage are identical across all of them: only the connection differs.

µF (capacitance) and voltage are the two specs that matter for fitment. Match the µF on the old capacitor's label, within ±5%: too low and the motor won't start, too high and it will run hot. Voltage must be equal or higher than the original; you can safely substitute a 450VAC unit for any motor specced at 450V or below, but never the other way around.

Commonly used for

Which terminal do I need?

This 20µF cap is sold as one listing with 2 terminal styles (Lug Terminal or Core Lead), selectable from the dropdown above: the µF and voltage are identical across all of them, only the connection differs. Lug Terminal: 6.3mm quick-connect male tabs that take push-on female spade receptacles. No soldering, just push on. Core Lead: a central threaded stud for bracket mounting plus lead-out wires. Pick the style that matches how your old capacitor connected, or fit a spade adapter to convert between them.

Construction

  • metallised polypropylene film, oval/rectangular plastic case with wire leads or spade terminals: the most common motor-run body in NZ.
  • Polypropylene film, self-healing: small punctures clear without short-circuit.
  • ±5% capacitance tolerance · 50/60 Hz · 70°C max ambient operating temperature.
  • Mounting: Wire leads or spade terminals.
  • Terminal options: Lug Terminal or Core Lead. Select on the page.

What not to buy this for

  • Don't buy this for a motor-start application (compressor relay, pump priming). Motor-start caps usually have a much higher µF for short bursts and a CD60 body. This unit is rated for continuous duty, not the high inrush of a start cap.
  • Don't buy by µF alone: physical size needs to fit the housing, and the terminal style (pick Lug Terminal or Core Lead to match your wiring) needs to match your existing wiring or you'll need an adapter.

Common questions

My old capacitor is rated 370V or 440V. Can I fit this 450V one?

Old part rated 370V or 440V? A 450V cap is the correct replacement for any motor-run capacitor rated 450V or below: the voltage is a ceiling, not a target; never fit a lower one. Match the µF on your old capacitor's label, within ±5%.

How closely does the 20µF capacitance need to match my old capacitor?

Match the µF on your old capacitor's label, within ±5%. Too low and the motor may not start; too high and it can run hot. Read the µF (and the voltage) printed on the side of your existing capacitor before ordering.

Which terminal option should I choose?

This listing covers 2 terminal styles (Lug Terminal, Core Lead): the µF and voltage are identical across all of them, only the connection differs. Pick the style from the Terminal dropdown that matches how your old capacitor's wires came out, or fit a spade adapter to convert between them.
