The AstralPool CX240 is listed with a 20 µF (20 uF / 20 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with core leads. Before ordering, read the value printed on your old capacitor, shown as µF, uF or MFD. If it says 20 µF and its voltage is 450 V or lower, this capacitor matches. If it shows a different µF, order that value instead, because the motor may have been changed at some point.
AstralPool CX240 capacitor specification
A run capacitor stays in circuit the whole time the motor is running. It shifts the phase of the current in the motor’s second winding, which gives the motor its starting torque and keeps it running smoothly. As the capacitor ages it loses capacitance, and the motor gets steadily harder to start.
- Capacitance: 20 µF
- Voltage: 450 VAC
- Body: CBB60 motor-run
- Connection: core leads
Choosing the right capacitor for the CX240
Go by the label on the old capacitor, not by the pump model alone. A replacement should match the µF value (within about ±5%) and have a voltage rating the same as or higher than the old one. This one has a 450 VAC rating. The identical part is also sold on its own as our 20 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Isolate the pump, treat the old capacitor as live until it has been safely discharged, and note which wires it connects to before you disconnect anything. If you’re not confident doing this, use an electrician.
If the seal is weeping as well, the AstralPool CX240 service kit pairs this capacitor with the matching mechanical seal for less than buying both separately.
Signs the CX240 capacitor is failing
- The motor hums but won’t turn, or only starts after the shaft is spun by hand
- The pump trips the breaker or thermal overload soon after switching on
- The case is swollen, split or leaking oil
Other pumps listed with a 20 µF capacitor
A 20 µF rating is also listed for the AstralPool CX180, AstralPool CX280, DAB K30/70, DAB K35/40, Grundfos JP5, Onga Leisuretime LTP550, Onga Leisuretime LTP750, Onga Pantera PPP550 and Onga Pantera PPP750. Whatever the pump, the number printed on your old capacitor decides what to order.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
