Our capacitor to suit the Davey Silensor SLL200 is a 25 µF (25 uF / 25 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals, sold as a CapacitorsNZ aftermarket part. Check it against the value printed on your old capacitor (shown as µF, uF or MFD): if it reads 25 µF, this is the replacement; if it reads anything else, match that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey Silensor SLL200
The Silensor SLL200 has a single-phase motor, and a run capacitor of this kind stays in circuit the whole time the motor is running. The replacement must have the same µF value as the old one, within about ±5%. The voltage rating must be the same or higher, never lower; 450 VAC gives comfortable headroom on a 230 V supply.
This one has lug (spade) terminals. Look at how your old capacitor is wired, and take a photo of the connections before you disconnect anything so the new one goes back the same way.
Signs the Silensor SLL200 capacitor has failed
- The motor hums but won’t turn, or only starts after the shaft is spun by hand.
- The pump trips the breaker or thermal overload soon after starting.
- The motor runs slowly or gets hotter than usual.
- The old capacitor case is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other Silensor pumps listed at 25 µF
Our listings for the Silensor SLL150, Silensor SLL300, Silensor SLL400 and Silensor SLS300 are also 25 µF. That doesn’t guarantee every pump wearing one of those codes has a 25 µF capacitor, because motors are sometimes replaced during repairs, so the value printed on your old capacitor is what counts. Our Silensor SLL capacitor guide has more detail, and the same part is listed on its own as a 25 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
Replacing the Silensor SLL200 capacitor safely
Turn the pump off and isolate it at the switchboard. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, so discharge it safely before handling the wires, ideally through a resistor or a purpose-made discharge tool rather than by shorting the terminals. If you’re not confident working on mains wiring, have an electrician fit it.
If the seal is weeping as well, the Silensor SLL200 service kit includes this capacitor with a 5/8″ seal, and the seal is also sold on its own.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
