The capacitor listed to suit the Davey Silensor SLS300 pool pump is a 25 µF (25 uF / 25 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals. Match it to the µF value printed on your old capacitor: if it reads 25 µF, this is the right part; if it shows a different number, order that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey Silensor SLS300
A single-phase pump motor like the SLS300 keeps its run capacitor in circuit the whole time it is running. The replacement needs the same microfarad value, usually within plus or minus 5 percent, and a voltage rating equal to or higher than the old one. The value is printed on the capacitor body as µF, uF or MFD.
Our Silensor SLS300 capacitor guide walks through finding and reading the old capacitor. The same 25 µF part is also sold as a stand-alone 25 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
Symptoms of a failing run capacitor
Run capacitors lose capacitance with age and heat. Common signs on a pool pump:
- a hum at switch-on with no spin, or the shaft only turning after a nudge
- the breaker or motor overload tripping soon after start-up
- a motor that runs hot or sluggish
- a swollen, split or leaking capacitor case
Other Davey pumps listed at 25 µF
Our listings for the Silensor SLL150, Silensor SLL200, Silensor SLL300 and Silensor SLL400 use the same 25 µF 450 VAC rating. Pumps can be rewound or fitted with a different motor over their life, so the old capacitor in your hand is the final word, not the model name.
Swapping the SLS300 capacitor safely
Switch off and isolate the pump before opening the motor cover. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is removed, so discharge it safely before touching the terminals, or have an electrician do the swap if you are unsure. Note which wire goes to which lug before removing the old one. If the seal is also due, the Silensor SLS300 service kit pairs this capacitor with the seal, and other models are on our Davey service kits page.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
