About this part

The Davey Silensor SLS300 pool pump takes a mechanical seal for a 5/8″ shaft; Davey’s part number for it is 49771SP. This CapacitorsNZ aftermarket seal replaces 49771SP and is also listed to suit the Davey HS50, HS60, Silensor SLL150, SLL200, SLL300, SLL400, SLS75, SLS100, SLS150 and SLS200. Check the pump label reads SLS300 or SLS 300 and compare your old seal before fitting.

Signs the Davey Silensor SLS300 seal is leaking

A mechanical seal has two faces: a spring-loaded ring that turns with the shaft and a stationary seat set in the pump housing. When those faces wear or crack, water gets past them. Typical signs:

  • drips or a damp patch between the pump housing and the motor
  • white mineral crust or rust streaks below the motor end
  • the pump struggling to hold prime or pulling air

Other Davey pumps that take the 49771SP seal

The 49771SP seal for the 5/8″ shaft is listed for these Davey models as well: HS50, HS60, Silensor SLL150, Silensor SLL200, Silensor SLL300, Silensor SLL400, Silensor SLS75, Silensor SLS100, Silensor SLS150 and Silensor SLS200. It also suits the Davey HS60-08 and ProMaster. The same part is sold on its own as our pump seal to suit Davey HS50, HS60, Silensor and ProMaster.

Fitting a new seal to the Silensor SLS300

Turn off and isolate the power, then drain the pump before opening it. Keep the new seal faces clean and dry until assembly; a fingerprint or grit on the polished faces can make a new seal weep. Press the stationary seat in squarely, and never run the pump dry once the new seal is in, because the faces rely on water for cooling.

If the old seal has been leaking for a while, check the motor bearings for noise or roughness while the pump is apart. Not sure your pump matches? The model code on the label should read SLS300 or SLS 300; send a photo of it and the old seal through our contact page. Seals and capacitors for other models are on our Davey service kits page.
