About this part

The mechanical seal to suit the Davey Silensor SLS200 is a 5/8″ shaft seal that replaces Davey part number 49771SP. It is the two-piece seal behind the impeller of this pool circulation pump, and the same seal is listed for the Silensor SLS75, SLS100, SLS150, SLS300, SLL150, SLL200, SLL300 and SLL400 and the Davey HS50 and HS60. Compare it with your old seal before fitting.

Davey 49771SP part number and pumps that share this seal

The Davey part number for this pump’s seal is 49771SP, and this aftermarket seal replaces it. The same seal fits the Davey HS50, Davey HS60, Silensor SLS75, Silensor SLS100, Silensor SLS150, Silensor SLS300, Silensor SLL150, Silensor SLL200, Silensor SLL300 and Silensor SLL400. It also suits the Davey HS60-08 and Davey ProMaster, which do not have their own listing on our site. The seal is also sold under its general name as our Davey HS50 / HS60 / Silensor / ProMaster pump seal.

Signs the Davey Silensor SLS200 seal has failed

A mechanical seal has a spring-loaded rotating face on the shaft running against a stationary seat pressed into the pump housing. When those faces wear, crack or run dry, water gets past them.

  • A drip or damp patch where the pump body joins the motor.
  • Rust or white mineral streaks running down under the motor.
  • The pump drawing air or losing prime at the motor end.

Fitting a new seal to the SLS200

Turn the power off at the isolator, close the valves and drain the pump before separating the motor from the wet end. Measure the shaft where the seal sits to confirm it is 5/8″, and keep the old seal to compare side by side with the new one. Keep the new seal faces spotlessly clean, do not touch them with bare fingers, and wet the rubber parts with soapy water rather than grease so they slide on. Never run the pump dry once the new seal is in, as even a short run without water can damage the faces. If the motor has also been slow to start, the Davey Silensor SLS200 service kit pairs this seal with the run capacitor so both are done in one strip-down. Seals for other models are on our Davey pump parts index.

Questions

What seal fits a Davey Silensor SLS200?

The Davey Silensor SLS200 takes a mechanical seal for a 5/8″ shaft, which replaces Davey 49771SP. Check it against your old seal before fitting.

What is the Davey part number for the Silensor SLS200 seal?

The Davey reference for the Silensor SLS200 seal is 49771SP. This aftermarket seal replaces that part number.

Does the Davey HS50 use the same seal as the Silensor SLS200?

Yes. The Davey HS50 and HS60 use the same 5/8″ seal as the Silensor SLS200, as do the Silensor SLS75, SLS100, SLS150, SLS300, SLL150, SLL200, SLL300 and SLL400.

Can I replace just the seal on a Silensor SLS200?

Yes. The seal is sold on its own for the Davey Silensor SLS200, or in the SLS200 service kit with the 12 µF run capacitor if you want to do both while the pump is apart.

Why is my Davey Silensor SLS200 leaking between the pump and the motor?

Water at the join between the pump body and the motor on a Silensor SLS200 most often means the mechanical seal faces have worn. Replace the seal before the leak reaches the motor bearings.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
