The mechanical seal to suit the Davey Silensor SLL150 pool pump is a shaft seal for a 5/8″ shaft that replaces Davey part 49771SP. This CapacitorsNZ seal is an aftermarket replacement, not a Davey part. The same seal is also listed for the Silensor SLL200, SLL300 and SLL400, the Silensor SLS75, SLS100, SLS150, SLS200 and SLS300, and the Davey HS50 and HS60.
Which Davey pumps use the same seal as the Silensor SLL150
The seal that replaces Davey 49771SP is shared across several Davey pumps. Each of these has its own listing: Davey Silensor SLL200, Davey Silensor SLL300, Davey Silensor SLL400, Davey Silensor SLS75, Davey Silensor SLS100, Davey Silensor SLS150, Davey Silensor SLS200, Davey Silensor SLS300, Davey HS50 and Davey HS60.
It is also listed for the Davey HS60-08 and the Davey ProMaster, which don’t have their own pages. The same part is sold on its own as our pump seal to suit the Davey HS50, HS60, Silensor and ProMaster.
Signs the Davey Silensor SLL150 seal is leaking
A mechanical seal has a spring-loaded rotating face on the shaft that runs against a stationary seat in the pump body. When those faces wear, chip or dry out, water gets past them.
- Drips or a damp patch where the pump wet end meets the motor.
- Rust or white mineral streaks running down beneath the motor.
- A puddle under the pump that keeps coming back after you dry the area.
Fitting the Silensor SLL150 seal
Confirm the pump first: look for the model code SLL150 (also written SLL 150) on the label. Then isolate the power and close the valves before opening the pump. To reach the seal you separate the wet end from the motor and remove the impeller; the rotating half of the seal sits on the shaft behind it and the seat sits in the housing.
Measure the shaft where the seal runs: 5/8″ is about 15.9 mm. Press the new seat in squarely, keep fingers and grease off the polished faces, and use water or a little soapy water as an assembly lubricant. Prime the pump before switching on after fitting, as running dry can quickly damage new seal faces. Check the size of your old seal against the new one before you start. If the motor has also been slow to start, the Silensor SLL150 service kit pairs this seal with a run capacitor, and kits for other Davey pumps are on our Davey service kits page.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
