The mechanical seal that fits the Davey Silensor SLL200 is a 5/8″ shaft seal replacing Davey part number 49771SP. Ours is a CapacitorsNZ aftermarket seal: a spring-loaded rotating face plus a stationary seat that together stop pool water passing along the motor shaft. The Silensor SLL150, SLL300 and SLL400 are listed with the same seal.
How to tell you have a Davey Silensor SLL200
Look for the model code on the pump label or motor plate. Its model code is SLL200, also written SLL 200. Check the number after SLL carefully: other Silensor models such as the SLL150, SLL300 and SLL400 carry their own codes and are separate pumps, even though they are listed with this same 5/8″ seal. If the label is too worn to read, measure the shaft where the old seal sat and compare the old seal with the photos, or send us a photo of the label and the old seal through our contact page.
Other Davey pumps that take the same seal
This seal, replacing Davey 49771SP, is also listed for the Davey HS50, Davey HS60, Silensor SLL150, Silensor SLL300, Silensor SLL400, Silensor SLS75, Silensor SLS100, Silensor SLS150, Silensor SLS200 and Silensor SLS300. It is also listed for the Davey HS60-08 and the Davey ProMaster, which don’t have their own pages. The same seal is sold on its own as our Davey HS50 / HS60 / Silensor / ProMaster pool pump seal.
Signs the Silensor SLL200 seal is leaking
Replace the seal as soon as it starts leaking. Water running along the shaft into the motor is a common reason pool pump motors lose their bearings.
- Drips or a steady weep from the gap between the pump housing and the motor.
- A white crust, green stain or rust trail on the motor or the pad underneath.
- The pump drawing air or struggling to hold prime with no other leaks found.
- A rumbling or screeching motor after a long-term leak, a sign water has reached the bearings.
Fitting a new seal to the Silensor SLL200
Isolate the power before you start. Measure the shaft where the old seal sat: 5/8″ is about 15.9 mm. Always fit both halves of the new seal together and never pair a new rotating face with an old seat. Keep the polished faces clean and don’t touch them with your fingers. Lubricate the rubber parts with water or a little soapy water rather than oil-based grease, which can swell rubber, and press the stationary seat in squarely so it sits flat in the housing.
If the pump has also been slow to start, the Silensor SLL200 service kit pairs this seal with a run capacitor. Kits for other models are under Davey service kits.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the size of your old seal.
