The run capacitor listed for the Filtermaster SB20 is 30 µF (30 uF / 30 MFD) with a 450 VAC rating, in a CBB60 motor-run body with core leads. Before ordering, read the value printed on your old capacitor (shown as µF, uF or MFD): if it says 30, this is the match; if it shows another value, order that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Filtermaster SB20
Two numbers matter on a run capacitor. The capacitance must match the old one, normally within plus or minus 5 percent, and the voltage rating must be the same as the original or higher. A 450 VAC rating covers a motor on a standard NZ 230 V supply with margin to spare.
Pumps can be rewired or repaired over the years, so the capacitor in your SB20 may not be the one it left the factory with. Trust the value printed on the part you take out over any listing, and send us a photo through our contact page if the label is faded.
Symptoms of a failing run capacitor
Run capacitors lose capacity with heat and age. A motor on a weak capacitor still tries to turn but has less torque, so it may hum, start slowly or overheat.
- The motor hums but will not start, or only starts after the shaft is spun by hand.
- The breaker or the motor’s thermal overload trips soon after starting.
- The old capacitor case is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other pumps with the same 30 µF rating
This 30 µF 450 VAC rating is also listed for the DAB DP151, DAB Jet 151, DAB Jet 200, DAB K30/100 and DAB K45/50. If you would rather buy by rating than by pump model, the identical part is on our CBB60 30 µF 450 V capacitor page. Whichever page you order from, isolate the power first and discharge the old capacitor before handling it.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
