The run capacitor to suit the DAB K30/100 is a 30 µF (30 uF / 30 MFD), 450 VAC capacitor in a CBB60 motor-run body with core leads. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on your old capacitor and make sure it says 30 µF. If your pump has a different value fitted, order that value instead, as the motor needs a matching capacitance.
Choosing the right capacitor for the DAB K30/100
Look on the side of the old capacitor for a figure followed by µF, uF or MFD. That number is what matters. A replacement should match it within about 5%, and its voltage rating should be the same as or higher than the original. This one is 30 µF at 450 VAC, so it suits a K30/100 that has a 30 µF capacitor fitted. The same capacitor is sold on its own as our 30 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
- Capacitance: 30 µF.
- Voltage rating: 450 VAC.
- Body: CBB60 motor-run.
- Connection: core leads.
Symptoms of a failing run capacitor
Run capacitors lose capacitance as they age and heat up. The motor then has less help getting started and running efficiently, so the faults below tend to creep in gradually rather than all at once. Turn the power off and isolate the pump before opening the terminal box, as a capacitor can hold a charge.
- The motor hums but won’t turn, or only starts if the shaft is spun by hand.
- The breaker or motor overload trips soon after start-up.
- The motor runs slow and hot, or the old capacitor case is swollen or leaking.
Other pumps listed at 30 µF
These pumps are also listed with a 30 µF 450 VAC run capacitor: DAB DP151, DAB Jet 151, DAB Jet 200, DAB K45/50 and Filtermaster SB20. Whatever the model, go by the value printed on your old capacitor. Capacitors for other DAB pumps are under DAB service kits.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
