The capacitor listed to suit the DAB DP151 is a 30 µF (30 uF / 30 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with core leads. It is a CapacitorsNZ replacement, not a DAB part. Before ordering, read the value printed on your old capacitor: if it says 30 µF (or 30 MFD), this is the match; if it shows a different value, order that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the DAB DP151
The number that matters is the capacitance printed on the old capacitor, shown as µF, uF or MFD. A replacement should match that value within about 5%, and its voltage rating should be the same as or higher than the original. This one carries a 450 VAC rating, so it meets that rule if your old capacitor is marked 450 V or lower.
Core ls means the wires come straight out of the capacitor body rather than spade tabs on top. Note where each old wire connects, or take a photo, before you disconnect anything.
Signs the DP151 capacitor has failed
Run capacitors lose capacity with heat and age, so a pump can go from fine to struggling gradually rather than all at once.
- The motor hums but won’t start, or only starts after the shaft is spun by hand.
- The pump trips the breaker or overload soon after starting.
- The motor runs hot and slow, or the old capacitor is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other pumps listed with a 30 µF capacitor
The same 30 µF 450 VAC capacitor is listed for the DAB Jet 151, DAB Jet 200, DAB K30/100, DAB K45/50 and Filtermaster SB20. Motors can change between production runs, so always go by the value on the capacitor in your own pump. The plain part is also sold as our 30 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
Changing the DP151 capacitor safely
Switch off and unplug the pump before opening the terminal box. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, so discharge it before handling, ideally through a resistor rather than by touching the leads together. If you are not confident with mains wiring, have an electrician fit it.
If the DP151 is also leaking at the shaft, the DAB DP151 service kit bundles this capacitor with the DP151 mechanical seal. Parts for other DAB pumps are under DAB service kits.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
