The run capacitor listed for the DAB K20/41 is 10 µF (10 uF / 10 MFD), 450 VAC, in a CBB60 motor-run body with core leads. It is a CapacitorsNZ replacement, not a DAB part. Before ordering, read the value printed on the capacitor already in your pump: if it shows something other than 10 µF, choose that value instead, because the µF has to match.
Choosing the right capacitor for the DAB K20/41
Three things matter. First, the capacitance: it must match the old capacitor, normally within about 5 percent. Too little and the motor struggles to start; too much and it can run hot. Second, the voltage: the new one needs an equal or higher voltage than the old one, and 450 VAC covers the common 400 and 450 V types. Third, the connections and size: this one has core leads, so check your old capacitor also has wires coming out of it rather than spade tabs, and that the body will fit the space it came from.
The value is printed on the side of the old capacitor as µF, uF or MFD. If the label has faded, or it shows something other than 10, get in touch before ordering. A 10 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor is also sold without a model name as our 10 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
Signs the DAB K20/41 capacitor is failing
- The motor hums but won’t turn, or only starts after the shaft is flicked by hand.
- The pump trips its overload or the breaker soon after starting.
- It runs noticeably slower or hotter than it used to.
- The old capacitor case is swollen, split or oily.
Swapping the K20/41 capacitor safely
Turn the pump off at the wall and unplug it or isolate the circuit. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, so discharge it before handling, ideally by holding a suitable resistor across the leads, and keep your fingers off the terminals. Take a photo of the wiring first, then connect the new leads to the same terminals and secure the body so it cannot rattle. If you are not comfortable working inside the motor terminal box, have an electrician do the swap.
If the pump is also dripping between the pump end and the motor, the DAB K20/41 service kit combines this capacitor with the 13 mm K20/41 mechanical seal. Other DAB listings are grouped on our DAB service kits page.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
