The service kit to suit the Pedrollo PKM65 contains two aftermarket parts: a mechanical seal for the 12 mm shaft with carbon / ceramic faces, and a 14 µF (14 uF / 14 MFD) 450 VAC CBB60 run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals. A shaft seal and a run capacitor are common wear parts on a single-phase peripheral pump, and the kit costs less than buying the two separately. Check your old seal size and capacitor value before fitting.
What’s in the Pedrollo PKM65 service kit
Both parts are CapacitorsNZ aftermarket replacements made to suit the PKM65. If only one of them has failed, each is also sold individually from the links below; the kit simply bundles the pair at a lower total than buying both on their own.
- Mechanical seal for the PKM65: 12 mm shaft, carbon / ceramic faces.
- 14 µF run capacitor for the PKM65: 450 VAC, CBB60 motor-run body, lug (spade) terminals.
Why service the seal and capacitor together
On a peripheral pump the shaft seal is a wear part. The carbon and ceramic faces run against each other, and over time grit, scale or a dry run wears them until water weeps out along the shaft. Left alone, that water can work its way into the motor and its bearings.
The run capacitor is the other part that commonly gives up on a single-phase motor. Heat and age slowly reduce its capacitance, so the motor starts sluggishly, hums or runs hot. With the pump already isolated and opened up for the seal job, swapping the capacitor at the same time is a small extra step, and it means the motor goes back into service with a fresh capacitor rather than an ageing one.
Before you start on the PKM65
Unused parts can go back under our returns policy. If you’re unsure what you have, send a photo of the pump label and your old parts through our contact page. For more on capacitors for Pedrollo PKM pumps, see our Pedrollo PKM capacitor guide, and other Pedrollo kits are on our Pedrollo service kits page.
- Switch off and isolate the power to the pump before opening the terminal box. A capacitor can hold a charge after the supply is removed.
- Photograph the capacitor wiring before disconnecting anything, so the new one goes back the same way.
- Compare the old capacitor’s printed µF figure with the 14 µF in this kit, and confirm the shaft under the old seal measures 12 mm.
Before you order
Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal.
