The capacitor listed for the Davey Silensor SLS150 is a 12 µF (12 uF / 12 MFD) run capacitor. This CapacitorsNZ part is a 12 µF, 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals, for the single-phase 1.1 kW pool pump. Before ordering, read the value printed on the capacitor already in your pump: if it says 12 µF this is the one, and if it shows another value, order that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey Silensor SLS150
Three things need to line up. The capacitance must match the old capacitor (within about 5%), the voltage rating must be the same or higher, and the terminals need to suit your wiring. This one is 12 µF at 450 VAC with lug terminals, and 450 VAC is comfortably above a 230 V supply.
The µF figure is printed on the side of the old can as µF, uF or MFD. Motors sold under one model name can change between production runs, and a previous repairer may have fitted a different value, so the number on your capacitor matters more than the model name. Our Davey Silensor SLS150 capacitor guide walks through it, and the same part is sold as a plain 12 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
Signs the SLS150 run capacitor is failing
A run capacitor stays in circuit the whole time the motor runs, so as it weakens with age and heat the motor gets less help to start and turn. Typical symptoms:
- The motor hums at switch-on but the shaft doesn’t turn, or it only starts after a nudge.
- The motor’s overload or the circuit breaker trips shortly after starting.
- The motor runs hot or sounds sluggish.
- The old capacitor is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other Davey pumps listed with a 12 µF capacitor
Our listings for these Davey pumps also use a 12 µF capacitor: Dynaprime, HS50, HS60, PACR100, PCCR100, PCCR150, Silensor SLS75, Silensor SLS100, Silensor SLS200 and the XP Series. Whatever the pump, check the old capacitor rather than assuming.
Safety when changing the SLS150 capacitor
Switch the pump off at the wall and unplug it or isolate it at the board before opening the terminal cover. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, so don’t touch the terminals until it has been safely discharged. Photograph the wiring before you disconnect anything. If you’re not confident working on mains wiring, get an electrician to fit it.
Planning to open the pump for a leaking seal as well? The Davey Silensor SLS150 service kit bundles this capacitor with the matching seal, and parts for other models sit on our Davey service kits page.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
