The capacitor listed for the Davey PCCR100 pool cleaner/booster pump is a 12 µF (12 uF / 12 MFD) run capacitor with a 450 VAC rating, in a CBB60 motor-run body with lug (spade) terminals. It is a CapacitorsNZ replacement, not a Davey part. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on your old capacitor; if it shows something other than 12 µF, order the value it shows instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey PCCR100
Two numbers matter. The capacitance (µF, uF or MFD on the label) must match your old capacitor, within about ±5%. The voltage must be the same or higher than the old one. This capacitor has a 450 VAC rating, which is comfortable for a single-phase pump on a 230 V supply.
The terminals are lugs (spade connectors) that take push-on leads. If your old capacitor has a different terminal type, such as flying wire leads, check with us before ordering. For more detail on this pump, see our Davey PCCR100 capacitor guide. The same 12 µF 450 V rating is also listed on its own as a 12 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.
Signs the PCCR100 run capacitor is failing
A run capacitor stays in circuit the whole time a single-phase motor like the PCCR100’s is running. CBB60 capacitors are built from metallised polypropylene film, and heat, voltage spikes and age gradually wear that film away, so the µF value drops until the motor can no longer start reliably.
- The motor hums but doesn’t turn, or only starts after the shaft is flicked by hand.
- The pump trips its overload or the breaker soon after starting.
- The motor runs hot or sounds sluggish.
- The old capacitor is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other Davey listings with the same 12 µF rating
Our listings for the Davey PCCR150, Davey PACR100, Davey Dynaprime, Davey HS50, Davey HS60, Davey Silensor SLS75, Davey Silensor SLS100, Davey Silensor SLS150, Davey Silensor SLS200 and Davey XP Series carry the same 12 µF 450 VAC rating. Whichever pump you have, the value on your old capacitor is the one to trust. Seals and kits for other models are on our Davey service kits page.
Swapping the PCCR100 capacitor safely
Switch the pump off at the switchboard and unplug it. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, so discharge it safely before you handle it. Photograph the wiring before pulling the leads off, then fit the new capacitor the same way. If you’re not confident working on mains wiring, get an electrician to do it.
If the pump is also weeping water at the motor end, the Davey PCCR100 service kit pairs this capacitor with the 16 mm seal, so both can be done while the pump is apart.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
