The Davey HS60 pressure pump is listed with a 12 µF (12 uF / 12 MFD), 450 VAC CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals, and this CapacitorsNZ aftermarket capacitor is made to suit it. The HS60’s 0.95 kW single-phase motor relies on it to start and run properly. Before ordering, read the µF printed on your old capacitor: if it shows a value other than 12 µF, order that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey HS60
Three things need to line up: capacitance, voltage and connections. The capacitance should match the µF printed on your old capacitor (it may say µF, uF or MFD), and this HS60 listing is 12 µF. The voltage should be the same as the old one or higher; this capacitor is 450 VAC, a common choice for 230 V single-phase pump motors. It has lug (spade) terminals, so check your old one has push-on spade connections rather than fixed wire leads.
The wrong µF can leave the motor running hot or refusing to start. More detail is in the Davey HS60 capacitor guide, and the same 12 µF 450 VAC rating is also sold without a model name as our 12 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor. If the HS60 is also weeping water, the Davey HS60 service kit pairs this capacitor with the 5/8″ shaft seal.
Signs the Davey HS60 capacitor is failing
Run capacitors lose capacitance as they age, often with no visible damage, so one that looks fine can still be the fault. A multimeter with a capacitance setting will confirm it once the capacitor is disconnected and safely discharged. Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off, so isolate the pump first, and if you’re not confident with mains wiring, have an electrician fit it.
- The motor hums when the pressure switch calls for water, but the shaft doesn’t turn.
- The pump only starts after a nudge, or starts slowly and sounds laboured.
- The overload or the breaker trips soon after start-up.
- The capacitor case is swollen, cracked or leaking.
Other Davey pumps listed with a 12 µF capacitor
The same 12 µF 450 VAC rating is listed for the Davey HS50, Davey Dynaprime, Davey PACR100, Davey PCCR100, Davey PCCR150, Davey Silensor SLS75, Davey Silensor SLS100, Davey Silensor SLS150, Davey Silensor SLS200 and Davey XP Series. Individual pumps can still differ, so go by the µF printed on the capacitor you are replacing, not the model list. Capacitors for other models are also listed under Davey service kits.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
