The Davey PACR100 pool cleaner/booster pump is listed with a 12 µF (12 uF / 12 MFD) run capacitor with a 450 VAC rating. This CapacitorsNZ replacement is a CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on your old capacitor and match it; if it shows a number other than 12, you need that value instead.
Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey PACR100
The µF (microfarad) number is the one that matters. It is printed on the side of the old capacitor as µF, uF or MFD, and the replacement should match it closely, within about ±5%. The voltage can be the same as the original or higher, never lower. The terminals on this one are lug (spade) type, so check that your motor leads end in matching push-on spade connectors.
The Davey PACR100 is listed with 12 µF, but capacitors can be swapped for a different value over the life of a pump, so go by the number on your old capacitor rather than the pump label alone. More help is on the Davey PACR100 capacitor guide.
Signs the PACR100 capacitor has failed
The PACR100 is a single-phase pump, and a single-phase motor fitted with a run capacitor relies on it to start and to run smoothly, so a weak one shows up quickly.
- The motor hums but won’t turn, or only starts if the shaft is spun by hand.
- The motor overload or the breaker trips soon after starting.
- The motor runs hot and sluggish.
- The old capacitor case is bulging, cracked or leaking.
Swapping the PACR100 capacitor over safely
Switch off and unplug or isolate the pump first. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, so discharge it safely before touching the terminals. Take a photo of the wiring, move the leads across one at a time, and secure the new capacitor where the old one sat. If you’re not comfortable working on mains wiring, get an electrician to fit it.
Other Davey pumps listed with a 12 µF capacitor
The same rating is listed for the Davey Dynaprime, Davey HS50, Davey HS60, Davey PCCR100, Davey PCCR150, Davey Silensor SLS75, SLS100, SLS150, SLS200 and the Davey XP Series. The part is also sold as a plain 12 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor. Kits for other models are under Davey service kits.
Before you order
Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.
