About this part

The Davey Dynaprime is listed with a 12 µF (12 uF / 12 MFD) 450 VAC run capacitor. This CapacitorsNZ replacement is a CBB60 motor-run capacitor with lug (spade) terminals to suit the single-phase Dynaprime. A pump may have had its motor or capacitor changed over the years, so match the µF printed on your old capacitor before ordering, and if it shows a different value, order that value instead.

Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey Dynaprime

The number that matters is printed on the side of the old capacitor, written as µF, uF or MFD. Read it before you order: the replacement should carry the same value, normally within a ±5% tolerance band, and a voltage rating equal to or higher than the old one. This capacitor carries a 450 VAC rating and has lug (spade) terminals that take push-on connectors.

Codes such as Dynaprime 64101, 64102 and 74101 help you confirm your pump is a Dynaprime, but a code on the pump label is not a capacitor rating. Go by the old capacitor itself. Our Davey Dynaprime capacitor guide walks through reading the label, and the same part is sold under a plain name as our 12 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor.

Signs the Dynaprime capacitor has failed

A capacitor stores charge even with the power off. Isolate the pump at the switchboard or plug, then treat the old capacitor as live until its terminals have been discharged. Photograph the wiring before you pull any connectors off.

  • The motor hums but won’t turn, or only starts if the shaft is spun by hand.
  • The pump trips the breaker or thermal overload soon after switching on.
  • The motor runs slow and hot, or struggles to build pressure.
  • The old capacitor case is swollen, split or leaking.

Other Davey pumps listed with a 12 µF capacitor

The same 12 µF 450 VAC rating is listed for the Davey HS50, Davey HS60, Davey PACR100, Davey PCCR100, Davey PCCR150, Davey Silensor SLS75, Davey Silensor SLS100, Davey Silensor SLS150, Davey Silensor SLS200 and Davey XP Series. The same rule applies to all of them: check the old capacitor before you buy. Capacitors and service kits for other Davey models are on our Davey service kits page.

Before you order

Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.

Questions

What size capacitor does a Davey Dynaprime take?

The Davey Dynaprime is listed with a 12 µF 450 VAC run capacitor. Match the µF printed on your old capacitor, and if it shows a different value, order that value instead.

Does the Dynaprime 74101 take a 12 µF capacitor?

74101 is a Davey Dynaprime code, but don't go by the code alone. Read the µF value printed on the old capacitor in your Dynaprime and order a capacitor with that value.

Can I fit a 450 V capacitor if my old Dynaprime capacitor says a lower voltage?

Yes. A run capacitor can have a higher voltage rating than the one it replaces, as long as the µF value matches. Never fit one with a lower voltage rating in a Davey Dynaprime.

How do I know if the capacitor is the problem on my Dynaprime?

If the Davey Dynaprime motor hums without turning, starts only after a hand spin, or trips the overload soon after starting, the run capacitor is one of the first things to check.

Can I get the Dynaprime capacitor and seal together?

Yes. The Davey Dynaprime service kit pairs this 12 µF capacitor with a 5/8″ mechanical seal that replaces Davey 47863, for less than buying the two separately.

Is this capacitor made by Davey?

No. It is an aftermarket CapacitorsNZ capacitor rated to the 12 µF 450 VAC value listed for the Davey Dynaprime. Davey does not make or endorse it.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
