About this part

The Davey Silensor SLS75 pool pump is listed with a 12 µF (12 uF / 12 MFD) run capacitor. This CapacitorsNZ replacement is a 12 µF CBB60 motor-run capacitor with a 450 VAC rating and lug (spade) terminals, to suit the single-phase 0.75 kW motor. Before ordering, read the µF value printed on your old capacitor and make sure it says 12 µF.

Choosing the right capacitor for the Davey Silensor SLS75

The number that matters is the capacitance in microfarads, printed on the old capacitor as µF, uF or MFD. A replacement should carry the same µF value; staying within about ±5% of the original is the usual rule. A pump sold as a Silensor SLS75 may carry the code SLS75 or SLS75E, and motors are sometimes swapped during a pump’s life, so go by what is printed on the capacitor you are taking out rather than the model name alone.

Voltage works the other way: the replacement must be rated at or above the old one, and this one carries a 450 VAC rating. Check the connections too. This capacitor has lug (spade) terminals for push-on connectors. The same part is also sold as a plain 12 µF 450 V CBB60 capacitor, and our Silensor SLS75 capacitor guide has more detail.

Signs the SLS75 capacitor is failing

A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Isolate the pump at the wall and discharge the old capacitor safely before touching its terminals, or get an electrician to do the swap.

  • The motor hums but won’t turn over.
  • The thermal overload cuts the motor out soon after it starts.
  • The motor runs hot, or the flow seems weaker than it used to be.
  • The old capacitor case is swollen, cracked or leaking.

Other Davey pumps listed with a 12 µF capacitor

These Davey models are listed with the same 12 µF 450 VAC rating: Davey Dynaprime, Davey HS50, Davey HS60, Davey PACR100, Davey PCCR100, Davey PCCR150, Davey Silensor SLS100, Davey Silensor SLS150, Davey Silensor SLS200 and Davey XP Series. That is a listing match, not a promise about every pump: always check the capacitor in your own unit.

Changing the seal at the same time? The Davey Silensor SLS75 service kit pairs this capacitor with the SLS75 mechanical seal, and parts for other models are under Davey service kits.

Before you order

Check the old part before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor.

Questions

What size capacitor does a Davey Silensor SLS75 take?

The Davey Silensor SLS75 is listed with a 12 µF run capacitor, and this replacement is 12 µF at 450 VAC. Always match the µF printed on your old capacitor.

My SLS75 capacitor shows a different µF. Which should I buy?

Buy the value printed on the old capacitor in your Silensor SLS75, not the listed one. Motors are sometimes changed during a pump's life, so the old part is the reliable guide; the SLS75 capacitor guide can help.

Can I use a higher-voltage capacitor on a Silensor SLS75?

Yes. A capacitor with a higher voltage rating than the original is fine on a Silensor SLS75 as long as the µF matches. Never fit one with a lower voltage rating than the old one.

What terminals does the Silensor SLS75 capacitor have?

This 12 µF capacitor to suit the Davey Silensor SLS75 has lug (spade) terminals for push-on connectors. Check your old capacitor's connections match before ordering.

My Silensor SLS75 hums but won't start. Is it the capacitor?

A weak or failed run capacitor is a common cause of a Silensor SLS75 humming without starting. A seized shaft or worn bearing can do the same, so with the power isolated, check the shaft turns freely.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
