The service kit to suit the Onga Leisuretime LTP400 pool pump has two parts: a mechanical seal for a 1/2″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces, which replaces Onga 702789, and a matched pair of sealed ball bearings for the drive end and fan end of the motor. No capacitor is included. It is an aftermarket CapacitorsNZ kit, not an Onga product.
What’s in the Onga Leisuretime LTP400 service kit
The kit covers the two wearing parts that come out when an LTP400 is stripped down. Each one is also sold separately if you only need one of them.
There is no capacitor in this kit. On a single-phase pump, a motor that hums but will not start is often a capacitor fault, though a seized shaft can do the same, so turn the shaft by hand with the power off before blaming either. Our Onga Leisuretime LTP400 capacitor guide covers that side of the pump.
- Mechanical seal for the 1/2″ shaft, carbon / ceramic faces, replacing Onga 702789. On its own it is the Onga Leisuretime LTP400 mechanical seal.
- Matched pair of sealed ball bearings, one for the drive end and one for the fan end. On its own it is the LTP400 motor bearing set.
Why service the seal and bearings in one job
On most pool pumps the seal sits on the motor shaft directly behind the impeller, so replacing it means taking the pump body off the motor and removing the impeller. With the motor already off the pump and the impeller out, the first half of a bearing change is done, and opening the motor now is less work than stripping the whole pump a second time later.
The two failures are also linked. A seal that has been weeping for a while lets water run along the shaft toward the motor, and bearings that have taken water often turn rough or noisy soon after. Doing both at once means the motor goes back together with fresh parts at the wet end and at both ends of the shaft.
How to tell you have an LTP400
Look for the model code on the motor label or the pump body. On this pump it is usually shown as LTP400 or LTP 400. The Leisuretime LTP550 and LTP750 are listed for the same seal and the same bearing set as the LTP400, but each has its own listing: the Leisuretime LTP550 kit and Leisuretime LTP750 kit. Other Onga models we carry parts for are grouped on our Onga service kits page. If the label is faded or missing, send us a photo of the pump through the contact page and we can help you work it out.
Checking the old parts before you fit the kit
When the old parts are out, compare them with the new ones before fitting anything: the size of the old seal, and the bearings in the old motor. Parts are covered by a 90-day guarantee if they arrive faulty. See the returns page for how that works.
Before you order
Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal.
