About this part

The DAB Jet 82M service kit bundles three CapacitorsNZ parts: a 13 mm mechanical seal with carbon / ceramic faces that replaces DAB 61M/16, a 12 µF (12 uF / 12 MFD) 450 VAC run capacitor with core leads, and a matched pair of sealed ball bearings for the drive end and fan end of the motor. It lets you renew the usual wear parts in one job instead of opening the pump up again later.

What’s in the DAB Jet 82M service kit

Every part in the kit is also sold on its own, so if you only need one item you can order it by itself from its own page:

Why change the Jet 82M seal, bearings and capacitor together

On most small pumps the seal is what wears out first. Once it starts to weep, water creeps along the shaft toward the motor, and the drive-end bearing is usually the first thing it reaches. A pump that has leaked for a while often has a rumbling motor by the time anyone opens it up.

Changing the seal already means separating the motor from the pump end, which is most of the work needed to get at the bearings. Doing both while it is apart saves a second strip-down later. The capacitor is the quickest part of the job: it ages with heat and use, and a tired one makes the motor slow to start and work harder than it should. The kit is priced below the three parts bought one at a time.

Checking your Jet 82M before you fit the kit

Check the rating plate reads DAB Jet 82M, then compare each old part with its replacement before fitting: the µF printed on the old capacitor, the size of the old seal and the bearings in the old motor. Pumps sometimes have parts swapped over the years, so the old part is the final word. If anything looks different, send us photos through our contact page before you fit it. Unused parts can be sent back under our returns policy. Kits for other DAB pumps are on our DAB service kits page.

Before you order

Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal.

Questions

What's in a DAB Jet 82M service kit?

A 13 mm mechanical seal that replaces DAB 61M/16, a 12 µF 450 VAC run capacitor with flying leads, and a drive-end and fan-end pair of sealed motor bearings, all to suit the DAB Jet 82M.

Can I buy just the seal or capacitor for a Jet 82M?

Yes. The DAB Jet 82M seal, capacitor and bearing set are each sold separately as well as in the kit.

Is the Jet 82M kit cheaper than buying the parts separately?

Yes. The DAB Jet 82M kit costs less than the seal, capacitor and bearing set added up individually.

Do I have to change the bearings when I replace the Jet 82M seal?

Not always, but if the old seal has been leaking or the motor sounds rough, the bearings may have taken water. Since the DAB Jet 82M motor is already apart for the seal, it is the easiest time to replace them.

Is this a DAB-made service kit?

No. The DAB Jet 82M service kit is an aftermarket kit from CapacitorsNZ, made up of parts to suit that pump; it is not made or endorsed by DAB.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
