About this part

The service kit to suit the Onga Leisuretime LTP550 pool pump has three parts: a mechanical seal for a 1/2″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces (replaces Onga 702789), a 20 µF (20 uF / 20 MFD) 450 VAC run capacitor with core leads, and a matched pair of sealed motor bearings for the drive end and fan end. It covers the main parts replaced at a pump service, for less than buying them one at a time.

What’s in the Onga Leisuretime LTP550 service kit

Each part is also sold on its own through the links below, if you only need one. The kit is for when the pump is coming apart anyway and you would rather do the whole job in a single strip-down.

  • Mechanical seal: 1/2″ shaft, carbon / ceramic faces, replaces Onga 702789 and Davey 48802SP.
  • Run capacitor: 20 µF, 450 VAC, CBB60 motor-run body with core leads.
  • Motor bearing set: a matched pair of sealed ball bearings, one for the drive end and one for the fan end.

Why service the LTP550 in one go

To get at the seal on a pool pump like the Leisuretime LTP550, the motor and impeller have to come away from the wet end. Once the motor is off, you are already part of the way to the bearings, and doing them now saves pulling the pump down a second time later. Seals and bearings are often linked: a weeping seal lets water creep along the shaft, and that moisture is a common cause of motor bearing failure.

The run capacitor is the quick part of the job. It is a simple swap once the power is isolated and the old capacitor discharged, and it is the first thing to suspect if the motor hums without starting or is slow to get going. Fitting a fresh one while everything is apart takes it off the list of suspects.

Checking your LTP550 parts before you order

Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal. Look for LTP550 or LTP 550 on the pump label to confirm the model. The listed capacitor for this pump is 20 µF, but pumps get repaired over their life, so the value printed on the capacitor you take out is the one to follow. The Leisuretime LTP550 capacitor guide has more on the capacitor, and other models are listed under Onga service kits.

Questions

What's in the Onga Leisuretime LTP550 service kit?

A 1/2″ carbon / ceramic mechanical seal that replaces Onga 702789, a 20 µF 450 VAC run capacitor with flying leads, and a drive-end and fan-end motor bearing pair, all to suit the Onga Leisuretime LTP550.

Is the LTP550 kit cheaper than buying the parts separately?

Yes. The Onga Leisuretime LTP550 kit costs less than the seal, capacitor and bearing set bought one at a time, and each listing shows its own price so you can compare.

Can I buy just the seal for my Leisuretime LTP550?

Yes. The seal, capacitor and bearing set for the Onga Leisuretime LTP550 are each sold on their own as well as together in this kit.

Do I need to change the bearings when I replace the LTP550 seal?

Not always, but the motor is already off the Onga Leisuretime LTP550 to reach the seal, so it is the easiest time to do them. If the old seal leaked for a while, water may already have reached the bearings.

What capacitor comes in the Onga Leisuretime LTP550 kit?

A 20 µF 450 VAC CBB60 run capacitor with flying leads. Check that the µF printed on your old capacitor matches before fitting it to the LTP550.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
